On behalf of Howard University, the Board of Trustees, University administration, faculty, students and alumni, it is truly an honor to welcome back all of the distinguished members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for this next chapter of its centennial anniversary celebration. We know that it is fitting for this celebration to be held here at Howard, because it is the birthplace of this sisterhood.

Yesterday marked the kickoff of the centennial weekend events as members descended on Howard’s campus to enjoy many activities, including the dedication of a stained-glass window in Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel in honor of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Special guests, including national president Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre, centennial chair Gwendolyn Boyd, past national presidents, members of the executive board, last year’s Alpha Chapter president, Erin Keith, platform guests, and many other distinguished members all gathered together in Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, at satellite locations around campus and via live stream on the web to witness the program commemorating this important milestone. Immediately thereafter, there was also another program to dedicate Fortitude Plaza, located on the lower quad.

Howard University is honored to serve as the location for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Alpha Chapter and proud to play a part yet again in the centennial festivities this year. On behalf of the entire Howard community, I offer heartfelt congratulations to you on your centennial anniversary, and I encourage you to continue your good work, for the best is still ahead!
